About the author
Dr. Heather Evans is a licensed clinical social worker, therapist, speaker, author, and founder of Evans Counseling Services, a trauma-informed group counseling practice in Coopersburg, Pennsylvania. With more than twenty-five years of clinical experience, she specializes in complex trauma, sexual abuse, sex trafficking, domestic abuse, spiritual abuse, and clergy sexual abuse. Throughout her career, she has been passionate about amplifying voices, inspiring hope, and fostering post-traumatic growth while equipping service providers, faith communities, and organizations to become trauma-informed and survivor-centered in their care.
Heather earned her Doctor of Clinical Social Work degree from the University of Pennsylvania, where her research explored complex trauma and post-traumatic growth among survivors of domestic sex trafficking. She is the author of two books based on her research and the creator of the Voices of Survivors Project, an initiative that uses photography and storytelling to amplify survivors' voices and cultivate hope, healing, and advocacy.
Heather co-founded the Valley Against Sex Trafficking (VAST) Coalition, helping to lead anti-trafficking efforts throughout Pennsylvania's Lehigh Valley. She has also served as an adjunct professor with the Global Trauma Recovery Institute, traveling nationally and internationally to equip leaders, churches, organizations, and communities in trauma healing, survivor advocacy, and trauma-informed care.
Heather's passion is helping women encounter the heart of God beyond the messages that shame, diminish, or distort their identity. Whether through counseling, writing, speaking, or teaching, she longs to create spaces where truth is spoken with compassion, healing is possible, and women are reminded that they are deeply seen, fully loved, and created with immeasurable worth.
It is Heather's prayer that To God's Daughters becomes more than a devotional—that it is an invitation to rediscover God's heart, reclaim your identity, and experience hope, healing, and post-traumatic growth.
